As a nation, we produce over half a million tonnes of polyester textile waste annually, for which the only end-of-life solution is landfill or incineration.
How it Works
Project Re:claim recycles 100% polyester textile waste, using a thermomechanical recycling process into rPET pellets. These pellets use almost 10 times less energy (11%) compared with pellets made from virgin polyester.
Pre-sorted textiles enter the system and are then shredded, melted and extruded under heat and pressure, creating rPET pellets. The pellets can be spun into yarn, used for injection moulding or in many industries including the automotive industry.
What can be recycled?
Mono-fibre polyester clothing such as sportswear, nightwear etc.
Banners and flags
Post-consumer polyester clothing
Hospitality textiles
Soft furnishings
Uniforms and workwear
Bedding and linens
