Why recycle polyester?

Waste textiles

A world first for textile circularity

Currently only 1% of all the textiles consumed in the UK are recycled.

As a nation, we produce over half a million tonnes of polyester textile waste annually, for which the only end-of-life option is landfill or incineration.

Until now

rPET is recycled PET plastic (polyethylene terephthalate). It is just as good a quality as virgin PET but uses only 11% of the energy to make it and reduces our requirement for crude oil, or the amount of emissions incineration puts into the environment. Ultimately, it is a much smaller carbon footprint versus producing virgin polyester.

Imagine the possibilities of a non-virgin polyester fibre supply chain – infinitely recyclable, much lower carbon cost and the potential for huge financial savings.

Our vision is to enable companies to produce corporate wear and fashion garments using sustainable,  recycled polyester.

We need a seismic change in how garments are designed and produced.

Polyester textile recycling is one of the biggest opportunities to reduce the harmful impact of producing garments and this new technology is the first proven commercial scale system that has been designed to cope with the challenges of recycling post-consumer clothing.
